Yo, don't know if anyone has ever played FoM, but it's gotta be one of the best MMOs I've played. It's a sandbox game which is all about the players and their social interactions, you'd join one of the Factions in the game (Police, Army, Criminal, Mercenary, Corporations) and play your role. It's similar to EVE in a few ways, lots of management, with people leadings big organizations and fighting wars across the universe. Despite its dated graphics, it really offers something different to every other MMO out there.
I've played since late 2004 (Beta) and it's still going (just barely), and the devs have recently launched a kickstarter campaign to raise funds to change the game completely, calling it Fall of the Dominion, where they will completely redo the Faction System, the combat system and work on a lot of the issues plaguing the current game.

Denak Kalamari wrote:I used to play FoM a year back when I was still working as an officer in the L.E.D. Sadly I had computer problems and couldn't log in for almost a year, and after that LED was pretty much deserted and nothing like it used to be. I still watch FoM every once in a while, and I'll be interested to see how it will evolve from now.
Guess fighting BoS got old after a while.
Aye, I look forward to it, the goal for me previously was to become the Harbinger (R7) of the Brotherhood, and I did it. After I did that there wasn't any true goal for me to push for, I'd reached the mechanical limit for Ranks, I was the boss. Gave up for a bit, the rest of my faction crumbling. Hopefully, the new FoM will have more reasons to play as a Faction Leader. |

Maybe, I don't know what happened during that year but it was sad to see that everyone I knew had left or gone inactive, so I couldn't really bother trying my luck in another faction, I quite liked enforcing the law as a police officer and training new recruits into the LED protocols. But since I count all the active players of LED with one hand, I decided not to continue playing. And now that the Dominion has fallen and anything similar to LED is now gone, it just further fuels my difficulties to resume playing it. Although, I might try to download the game again and see how it's going after all these years, not with my old character though. Also horse comics, I loved those.
Got a feeling someone is going to reform LED one way or another, considering there are two prison territories. But yeah, I know what you mean when it comes to people leaving, seen hundreds of brothers come and go throughout the years, bring a piece to the game and take a chunk away when they go.

Community is still horrid, bitter vets the lot of them :P

It is still quite deserted honestly, this milestone patch needs to be good enough to draw hundreds of players in, if the game could get about 1000 actively playing at a time, it would be one of the most amazing games around. |
